The Galleria Morone was officially set up in Milan on October 27th 1966 showing, since the very first exhibitions, an abstract-lyrical trend which will become a distinctive feature in the selection of the following artists. Throughout the years, the gallery has hosted various generations of artists active after the Informal period, and all of them in any case linked to a specific poetics that had already characterized the great abstraction of the Sixties and Seventies. Great attention and effort has been put in the restoring of a few key names of 20th century Italian art that critics seemed to have forgotten or knowingly failed to mention, like Fausto Melotti and Mattia Moreni. In those crucial years of passion and great cultural ferment the gallery brought to Milan international artists such as Hans Hartung, Emil Schumacher, Alexander Calder, Christo, William Baziotes, Willem De Kooning, Adolph Gottlieb, Philip Guston, Franz Kline, Lee Krasner, Conrad Marca-Relli, Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, Ad Reinhardt, Mark Rothko, Theodor Stamos, Clyfford Still, Joan Mirò, Poliakoff, Riopelle, Mathieu. In 2011 the gallery's founder handed on the baton to his assistant of 13 years.
