Conversazione | Marco Grimaldi

Nuova Galleria Morone opens its new exhibition season with the inauguration of Marco Grimaldi. Conversazione, featuring the artist’s latest body of work. Marco Grimaldi (Udine, 1967), who has enjoyed a long and established collaboration with the gallery, presents on this important occasion a selection of new works—some created specifically for the exhibition—that belong to the most recent phase of his coherent pictorial research. In this series, “color, in its subtle conjectures between iridescences and haziness that challenge the repeated regularity of geometric hypotheses, seeks in the elusive the consistency of a revealing light.”

In this cycle, Grimaldi shows a stronger focus on “bringing painting inward to touch the chords of an intimacy where feeling prevails over reason.” His reflection thus centers on “a new intimate sensitivity that imbues the works with a transfiguring power, even more penetrating than the solutions explored previously.”

For Marco Grimaldi, artistic experience has always been a means of transcending the aesthetic dimension to become an instrument of contemplation and inner reconciliation. His “research does not end in pure chromatic composition or in self-indulgent formal aestheticism, but always invites the viewer to a disciplined exercise of perception.” In front of his works, conventional time is suspended, as one “awaits a revealing light that is living and active substance.” In the exhibition Conversazione, the new canvases and works on paper capture this destiny of light—reaching toward the unknown depths of the inner human dimension—unfolding through an experiential involvement shaped by the states and layers of color at play.

On the occasion of the exhibition, a catalog will be published, following the gallery’s tradition of a graphic design conceived specifically in relation to the distinctive characteristics of the works and the artist’s expressiveness.
