Elizabeth Aro

Elizabeth Aro is a visual artist who explores through her installations, objects and research the poetic space and alternative modes of perception of culture and society. Aro explores the different ways architectural surroundings influence the spectator – both mentally and physically: intervening or integrating, she engages with specific installations, creating pieces of poetic density where imagination and reverie are bleeding into reality. She creates interdisciplinary media installation in gallery context and public spaces including installations photos, drawings and video. The association with the actual reality and memories (private and collective) is the underlying motive in her work. By combining images from her own life and diferents inspirations the reality becomes tangible in images. Her work proposes an intuitive journey through the geography of emotions, beginning with the first huge pulse of the essential engine, the heart, and which branches out throughout the entire series of sculptures.
Born in Argentina, she has been based in Spain for 15 years and in Italy for the past 11 years. She studied arts at the National School of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyrredón in Buenos Aires and Art History at Buenos Aires University. She was awarded grants to be a resident artist at Fondation Rodriguez Acosta, Spagna; Fondazione Ratti, Como; Fondation Kaus Australis,Rotterdam; Centre d’art Contemporain Essaouira, Marrakech Marroc and Chateau La Napoule Art Fondation, Cannes France.
Her work features in the collections of GAM (Galleria Arte Moderna Torino), MAMbA and MACRO (Museum of Contemporary Art Rosario), and in private collections in Argentina and Europe.
