Nuova Galleria Morone presents Ugo La Pietra’s first solo gallery exhibition, curated by Elisabetta Longari.
Ugo La Pietra’s exhibition Interno-Esterno (Interior-Exterior) focuses on the relationship between people and the environment that surrounds them, both in private and public spaces. His work primarily aims to bring the viewer to full awareness of the dynamics that govern our way of living and interacting with the space that inevitably influences our behaviour and shapes our everyday life.
La Pietra breaks traditional patterns, paving the way for new ways of perceiving and relating to space. His approach highlights the possibility of environments and objects being transformed from static elements or barriers that delimit, instead into tools for connecting interior and exterior, stimulating action and suggesting a freer and more conscious way of living.
In this framework, the strategy of ‘disturbance’ plays a central role, implementing a provocation that is realised above all through the use of unbalancing objects. These elements, with their unexpected forms and functions, have the power to shake people out of the automatic mechanisms of habit, prompting them to rethink their relationship with space.
Inhabiting the city does not mean simply using it, but leaving a mark, shaping it, making it one’s own mentally and physically.
‘A piece of street in the room, a piece of room in the street’. This phrase perfectly sums up the idea behind La Pietra’s work: the search for a contamination between private and public space as a means of breaking down the separations that govern our daily lives.
