Marco Grimaldi

SATELLITI IN ATTESA | Marco Grimaldi

This new corpus is composed of works, mostly of small size, articulated in a sort of constellation of lights and forms. Each work is a note from the artist, a never ending landing, an end that leads to a new beginning. “Satelliti in Attesa” stems from the remains of an others serie, the “Diari”, a group of almost 300 drawings that the artist developed during the last two years. In both projects, forms and signs emerged daily and spontaneously, as preexisting pictures in the artist's mind, that needed a physical expression. Almost a physical necessity of expression, that the artist stills by the daily artistic gesture. A secret and intimate alphabet, that can only be recognize and translate from the artist expression...

Nicola Villa

Short-life Memories | Nicola Villa

Villa's work plays into the contemporary artistic fascination with everyday. These are not paintings of epic history or drama, but images that seek to delve into the experience of daily life. The blank space between events. This is art about the poetry of the quotidian. Nicola Villa's work makes an interesting contrast. Innately modern, his paintings are also about narrative and character. As the artist notes, "Every person is a story. I attempt to narrate the story I see inside other people." His works shares a similar desire to reflect the emotional experience of urban life. The titles for his paintings play with the discomfort and darkness behind the social mask of modern life. "Sometimes I start from a sensation, not...

Sara Badr Schmidt

Borderless/Milano | Sara Badr Schmidt

This exhibition is the result of a site-specific project that treats the eternal theme of the border between countries, understood as threshold, passage and osmotic membrane although often - and dramatically - sealed. Fourteen light boxes distilled in the darkness of the project room space open an equal number of windows on 14 different skies. Horizons of distant nations and geographies, differentiated by atmospheric conditions, climatic signals and different moments of the particular day passed through in the blue by subliminal messages, words and graphic writings that in a verse (and a cry) sum up the identity of a place or its story/history. In more than ten years of research, the skies that Sara Badr Schmidt has photographed during her travels...

Francesco Diluca

Vessel | Francesco Diluca

The work of Francesco Diluca in these years must have been both painful and demanding. His lucid view of reality has been merciless in describing our contemporary men. Being fully conscious of the reality around him, the truth Montale was expressing in the verse at the beginning, his work inevitably focused on this empty humanity that, in his opinion, had lost all substance. This is not an easy topic to tackle and it is certainly not easy to even contemplate narrate it through the medium of sculpture. How we can represent man as absent to himself? Diluca chooses to present us a with empty cocoons that lead us to perceive the echo of what was once there and may yet remain in everyday life...

Versioni | Meri Gorni

“Versioni” is a series of photographs in wich Meri Gorni turns words into images, together with a collection of books of poetry. In this project Gorni asked some poets (Vivian Lamarque, Nicola Gradini, Marco Kravos, Jolanda Insana, Mariangela Gualtieri, Nanni Balestrini, Jaroslaw Mikolajewski) the keyword of their poem wich were previously hand printed and collected in a book by the artist. Meri Gorni’s works (video, drawings and photographs) have always been deeply connected with words and literature; reading writing and drawing are in fact actions which begin with the eyes, through wich the world enters, so that words and images help the artis tame reality. “There is a book in all of my images” says the artist “ I have always...

Jean Marie Barotte

E quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle | Jean Marie Barotte

Jean Marie Barotte’s work is dirven by an ecstatic and pitiless introspection which leads him to seek the deepest sense of human being. The visula materials his paintings are made of are dark, sometimes even disturbing as they investigate the deepest instincts of the unconscious. The word is often understood as an evocation of a writing soul, of an hidden message, an archaic calligraphy, drawn in the dust of the material and deposited on the canvas whose surface is conceived as an open space to cross with a line. The Darkness though remain unbreakable as the mystery of human life. Like in Juan de la Cruz’s poem (Noche oscura) a candle is a faint light that may help us moving forward but...

Domenico Grenci

Canto di Lontananze | Domenico Grenci

These faces by Grenci are evocations that comes from far away, recalled from an “other” word. They express some kind of excruciating feeling of distance, the desire of wanting to return while knowing that this is impossible. A looking back of painfull tenderness, as if, finally, the ultimate point of arrival at the truth of life had coalesced in these images. In many paintings by Grenci one imbides what George Braque had conclued over the years: “the only thing that remains is what is taken away from us, and it is the best thing we have”. This chant, my chant is not that a looting of features and articulations, of beauties and abysses, made of paper and a few other...
